Set in Banasvan, 1585, The Queen follows Queen Durga, a ruler’s first wife who has been pushed into the palace’s west wing after her husband takes another bride. With her influence fading, she confronts the precarious future of her young son and the widening rift with her husband. As imperial pressures from Emperor Akbar close in, Durga realises that one misstep could cost them their kingdom.
Blending political intrigue with an intimate portrait of a strained marriage, the play explores what lies beneath the surface of power and loyalty. The Queen is a fictional reimagining that moves beyond hero and villain, revealing the human tensions that shape history.
